     Studies in musicology, history and German literature at the Universities of Mainz, Paris and Halle; 1995 Maîtrise at Université Paris-Sorbonne; 2001 PhD at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg with a dissertation on Olivier Messiaen’s opera Saint François d’Assise (published in 2002); then lecturer at Leipzig University; there habilitation (2008) with a book on German-Polish cultural transfer of the symphony (published in 2010) and director of a research project on the symphonic repertory at 19th-century Leipzig (2011-15); visiting professor at the Universities of Tübingen, Zürich, Berlin (Humboldt) and Hamburg; since 2016 Professor of musicology at Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès.
