Diego Cubero is assistant professor of music theory at the University of North Texas. He has presented research on Schenkerian analysis and Romantic music at several national and international conferences. His article “Descending Arpeggiations: Prolongational Issues and Their Expressive Implications” is published in the Journal of Music Theory, and his article “Inwardness and Inner Melodies in Brahms’s Piano Works” will appear in Music Theory Online. He is also contributing a chapter to the Palgrave Schopenhauer Handbook that will examine the influence of Schopenhauer’s philosophy on the development of Schenker’s theory.
